About Nepal And its THREE REGION
Nepal
Nepal is a small country which has its area of 1 lakh 47 thousand 181 square kilometer,from Mechi in the East to Mahakali in the west .Also it is an agricultural country its people are dependent on agriculture.It is a land lock country surrounded by china from the North and India from East, West and South sides.Though it is small in size,but it contains various types of climate,vegetation and soil .Similarly,the people in this country are also of different castes,with different cultures and costumes and has different ways of life.The Land of Nepal is not similar every where .many of the geographical features are packed together in this small country.There are tallest Mountain,high hills and plains as well,because of this diversity the development in agriculture,industry and trade is not similar every where.On the basis of physical features,Nepal can be divided into three regions:Himalayan,Hilly and terai Regions
Himalayan Region of NEPAL
The Himalayan region lies on the northern part of the country Nepal. This region occupies 15% of the total land area of our country. It is elongated from the east side to the west side of our country. Some of the highest peaks of the world like Mt.Everest (Sagarmatha), Kanchanjunga, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, etc are located in this region. In this region, the northern part of it is covered with white snow and is very cold here. Vegetation and human lives are not possible in the northern most part of this region. But, only in the southern part, the people grow their crops and rear animals and live their life happily. The main in habitants of this region are Humli, Jumli, Mugal, Loho, Thakali, Byansi, Jad and Sherpa. The life of the people living here is harder than the life of people living in hilly and terai region. People they struggle for their life here in Himalayan region. They have their own way of life, different from that of others.
The Terai Region of NEPAL
The terai region is situated in the southern part of our country Nepal. It is elongated from Mechi in the east to Mahakali in the west. About 17% of the total land area of the country is occupied by this region. From the sea level this region is situated at a height of 305 meter, as compared to Himalayan region and Hilly region. This region has a hot climate because of it during the summer season; its temperature rises up to 38 degree Celsius. During the months from June to September this region receives a high rainfall due to this region is affected by floods, landslide, soil erosion etc during rainy seasons. Also this region lies at the border with India so, people living here are influenced by Indians way of life in all matters. As this region lies at the border it has get better facilities than others regions. As well as Education system is good, transportation system is well, better facilities are available, and people are having better quality of life than other regions.
Food of three regions of NEPAL
Dhindo (a pudding like food made from millet or maze) is a typical type of food eaten by the people in the Himalayan Region. Also they eat rice, bread, potato and meat. They also take a different type of tea which are prepared from tea-salt and ghee. In Himalayan region Potato is their tipple food.
The main food for the hilly region is rice. They too eat bread, meat, eggs, milk and milk products like butter, ghee, cheese, yogurt, etc. People of this region takes Indian, Chinese, Western food occasionally in town areas. They also take fast food like noodles, biscuit, chowmin, macaroni, etc.
The main foods for the peoples of the terai region are bread and rice. Milk and milk products are also the part of their food. Among the fruits Mango is very famous and is available in all parts of this region. Fish and birds like Bagri and drinks like tad are the specialty of terai food and drink.
Houses of three regions of NEPAL
Most of the houses of the Himalayan region are made up of stone and clay. The roofs of the houses are of thatch or, of stone, due to such structure the house remains warm inside. Fire wood is use for cooking and maintaining the house warm throughout the day and night so, that people do not feels cold and shivering. A wealthy people is known by the no of fire wood bundles he keep so, people keep a lot of fire wood.
The houses of hilly region are mostly made of stones and clay with thatched roofs. In these region villagers they paint pictures of Gods and goddesses on the red color walls at villages. But in town areas there are multi storage buildings, particularly in the Kathmandu valley and Pokhara people built their houses with artistic design.
The houses of Terai region are made up of clay without the use of stones. In the villages, houses are small huts. Tharus, Satars, Rajbanshis, Dhimals, etc built their typical houses. In town areas, however tall and big buildings are seen. They are made of cement, concrete and bricks.
Health of three regions of NEPAL
In Himalayan region people work hard and eat a lot. Walking up and down in the hills keep the people living their healthier and fit. As a result the people are quite stronger and healthy. They rarely fall sick. Now a day, some health centers and health posts are being set up in most of this region.
In hilly region there are health centers and health posts in most of the places Likewise, big hospitals are set up in the towns. Bir hospital, which is the biggest and the first hospital in the country, is in this region. Some agencies and non-government organizations like World Health Organization (WHO), United Mission to Nepal (UMN), International Nepal Fellowship (INF) etc. also have established their health care centers in this region.
Terai region in the past it was afflicted by malaria, small and other diseases are. People they are afraid to go to terai but, now most of the diseases have eradicated. This region has become a pleasant place to live in. There are hospitals, health centre and health posts in all parts of this region.
Costumes of three regions of NEPAL
A person of Himalayan region wear thick woolen clothes made from sheep’s and other animal’s fur. The woolen jacket is called “BHAKKU”. People of this region also wear leather clothes and snow shoes which are generally called “Docha”. Women of this region wear ornaments of silver and copper. Some men also keep long hair like women’s.
Hilly region people wear dresses to suit the climate which is moderate. Mail wears daura, surwal, coat, cap, patuka, bhoto and kachhad. Similarly, woman wears cholo, sari, majetro and ghalek. Also in these region men in the town areas wears western dresses like trousers, skirt and coat where as women wear sari and blouse.
Terai region has a hot climate so; the people wear light cotton dresses. During summer season, most of the male members wear only a lungi and work with bare body whole day. Women also wear only a lungi up to the breast. However, dhoti kurta or kamiz for men and lungi, sari and blouse for women are common. Women have the custom of painting their body with different tattoo art works.
Education info about three regions of NEPAL
The Himalayan region is very backward in terms of education .People have to come down to the hilly region to get education, to be qualified for the country. Some go to Tibet to study Lama Education. Now days there are primary and secondary schools in many parts of this region still they have to go to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Tansen or Dhankuta to get higher education.
The hilly region is the center of the education in the country .Students from all over the country goes to get education to different levels to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dhankuta, Birendranagar etc. Also there are schools and colleges as well as three Universities (at Kirtipur, Dhulikhel, and Pokhara) in this region. This is the most developed part in education throughout the country.
Terai region got many schools and colleges in each and every part of this region. There are Universities like Purbanchal University which is in Biratnagar and Mahendar Sanskrit University which is in Dang. Birendranagar, Birgunj, Rajbiraj, Janakpur, Butwal, Bhairawa, Taulihawa, Nepaljung, DHangadi etc are the main centers of learning. During recent years there is a rapid growth in education.
Religion info of three regions of NEPAL
IN Himalayan region most of the people are the followers of Buddhism. They celebrate Buddha purnima which falls in Baisakh. They also celebrate Lhosar which falls in Paus-Magh. In their community they have the custom of sending the second son to the Gumba (monastery) who lives the life of the Lama. Similarly, the second daughter goes to become a Jhuma and spend her whole life there.
In hilly region followers of different religion are found. There are Hindu, Buddhist, Muslims, Christians and some Sikhs and Jains. They celebrate different festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Buddha Purnima, Id, Christmas, etc. The Newar community in Kathmandu valley celebrates a no of Jatra festivals.
In terai region HinduIsm and Islam are the main religions followed by the peoples. They celebrate festivals like Chhat, Rakshyabandhan, Holi, Diwali, Makar Sakaarnti, Shiva Ratri and Gangasagar. Also
The Muslim community they celebrates Id, Bakarid, Moharram etc. There are also the followers of Jainism who celebrates Mahasvir Jayanti with great pride and pomp.
